Dental Preventive Care

What is Preventive Care?

At our office, we find that it is more rewarding for us and costs less for our patients to prevent dental problems rather than treat them. Patients who are pro-active in their preventive care always have less treatment needs than those patients who treat their oral health on a reactive or emergency basis. The absence of pain or discomfort does not coincide with dental health. On the contrary, there can be significant dental and periodontal concerns that are completely without pain. With early detection, however, small areas of decay can oftentimes be easily taken care of with minor restorative procedures. Without treatment or recognition, these small areas of decay generally progress to larger areas weakening and compromising the tooth, leading to more involved procedures such as root canal treatment, crowns, and in some cases unfortunately tooth removal.

How is Preventive Care accomplished?

Regular dental examinations and dental hygiene appointments are requisites for optimal oral health. At our office, we schedule one full hour for a dental hygiene appointment. Our hygienists have the experience and skill to work with our patients in improving or maintaining their daily oral hygiene regimen. At each dental hygiene appointment, our patients will also have a dental examination by Dr. Rhee to ensure that any dental concern is recognized and treated early.
